This fuel consumption calculator tells you how many litres your car uses per 100 km, the total cost of a trip, and the cost per kilometre. Just enter the distance, the fuel used (or your known consumption rate), and the current fuel price per litre.
Consumption (l/100 km) = litres ÷ km × 100. Trip cost = litres × price/l. Cost per km = trip cost ÷ km. If you know the consumption rate instead of litres used: litres = consumption/100 × km.
Route: 300 km, 27 litres used, fuel price PLN 7.50/l. Consumption: 27 ÷ 300 × 100 = 9 l/100 km. Trip cost: 27 × PLN 7.50 = PLN 202.50. Cost per km: PLN 202.50 ÷ 300 = PLN 0.68/km.
Average fuel consumption for a typical passenger car is 6–9 l/100 km for petrol and 5–7 l/100 km for diesel in mixed driving. Hybrid cars average 4–6 l/100 km and modern EVs consume 15–20 kWh/100 km.
Fill the tank full, reset the trip counter, drive normally until you need to refuel, then fill up again and note the litres added and the distance driven. Use these figures in the calculator.
Driving speed (consumption rises sharply above 120 km/h), acceleration style, tyre pressure, air conditioning use, vehicle load, and road gradient all significantly affect consumption.
Fuel prices change daily. As of mid-2025, petrol (Pb95) is approximately PLN 6.00–6.80/l and diesel (ON) approximately PLN 5.80–6.50/l at Polish stations.
Maintain a steady speed (cruise control), keep tyres properly inflated, avoid unnecessary loads, plan routes to avoid congestion, and consider refuelling at cheaper stations along the route.
To convert l/100 km to UK mpg: divide 282.48 by l/100 km. To convert to US mpg: divide 235.21 by l/100 km. Example: 8 l/100 km = 35.3 UK mpg.
City driving typically consumes 20–40% more fuel than highway driving due to frequent acceleration, braking, and idling. Diesel and hybrid vehicles show a smaller gap.
A/C can increase fuel consumption by 10–20% in city driving and 5–10% on the highway. At lower speeds, opening windows may be more economical.
LPG (autogaz) costs roughly half the price of petrol per litre, but LPG consumption is about 15–20% higher. Overall savings are typically 30–40% compared to petrol.
Charging an EV at home (PLN 0.75/kWh) for 100 km at 18 kWh/100 km costs ~PLN 13.50, versus PLN 45–55 for a petrol car at 7 l/100 km — roughly 3–4 times cheaper.
Results are estimates based on inputs provided. Actual fuel consumption varies with driving style, road conditions, and vehicle load. Use current pump prices for accuracy.
