How the converter picks a clothing size

Letter size from chest (cm): <88 XS, 88–95 S, 96–103 M, 104–111 L, 112–119 XL, >119 XXL EU size = chest ÷ 2 (women: − 6) UK size = EU − 10 US size = letter size

Example: 96 cm chest, men

Chest 96 cm (men): letter size = M (range 96–103 cm), EU size = 96 ÷ 2 = 48, UK size = 48 − 10 = 38, US size = M.

Frequently asked questions

How do I pick a clothing size from chest circumference?

For men: below 88 cm – XS, 88–95 cm – S, 96–103 cm – M, 104–111 cm – L, 112–119 cm – XL, above – XXL. The EU size is roughly the chest divided by 2 (e.g. 96 cm → EU 48).

How do I correctly measure chest circumference?

Stand straight, breathe normally and wrap the tape around the chest at its widest point — at nipple level. The tape should be snug but not tight. Measure over a thin shirt or bare skin.

How does EU size differ from UK and US?

EU size is numeric (48, 50). UK is usually about 10 lower (EU 48 ≈ UK 38), as it reflects the chest in inches. US clothing is often given as letters (S, M, L, XL).

Women's and men's clothing use different numbering due to body shape. At the same 96 cm chest a women's size is approx. EU 42 and men's EU 48. The calculator applies the right offset.

No. Each brand uses its own patterns. Size M in one brand may be looser than M in another, especially across regions (Asian brands run smaller). Check the maker chart.

Size M fits a chest of 96–103 cm for men — the most common size. Fit also depends on cut: slim fit needs more margin than a regular cut.

For a looser fit pick the larger size, for a fitted look the smaller one. Also consider waist and hips and the fabric (knits stretch more than wovens).

Chest is most important for shirts, sweaters and jackets, but full sizing also covers waist, hips, sleeve length and height. For trousers the waist and height are key.

Convert your chest to the seller system (EU, UK or US) and check its chart. Differences between countries can be large, and UK and US sizes often use inches.

The converter gives indicative sizes from standard relationships. Results are a good starting point but do not replace trying on. When shopping online, compare with the brand chart.
