Court Fee Calculator Poland 2026 — how much is the court filing fee?
A court fee (oplata sadowa) is a mandatory charge collected by Polish courts when a procedural document is filed. Its amount is governed by the Act of 28 July 2005 on Court Costs in Civil Cases. For monetary claims (sprawy majatkowe), the law sets seven fixed brackets ranging from PLN 30 (disputes up to PLN 500) to PLN 1,000 (disputes up to PLN 20,000). For higher amounts, a 5% rate applies to the value of the subject-matter of the dispute (WPS), capped at PLN 200,000. The appeal fee equals 50% of the first-instance filing fee (but not less than PLN 30). The motion fee (zazalenie) is a flat PLN 100. Special fixed fees of PLN 200 apply to claims for maintenance (alimenty), incapacitation, and disturbance of possession. This calculator helps you quickly determine the fee due before filing. Enter the value of the subject matter and select the document type. The calculator returns the exact fee amount and the applicable legal basis. It is designed for litigants, lawyers, legal advisers and mediators.

How the court fee calculator works
The calculator applies the bracket table from Art. 13 of the Act on Court Costs in Civil Cases: 1. Monetary claim (pozew): stepped fixed brackets from PLN 30 (WPS up to PLN 500) to PLN 1,000 (WPS up to PLN 20,000). Above PLN 20,000: fee = WPS x 5%, capped at PLN 200,000. 2. Appeal (apelacja): fee = max(PLN 30; base_fee x 50%). The base fee is computed from the monetary scale for the given value. 3. Motion (zazalenie): flat PLN 100. 4. Maintenance / incapacitation / disturbance of possession: flat PLN 200. Bracket boundaries: a value exactly equal to a bracket ceiling falls in the lower bracket (e.g. WPS = PLN 1,500 => PLN 100; WPS = PLN 1,501 => PLN 200). Results are rounded to the nearest grosz.
Example: monetary claim for PLN 50,000 and subsequent appeal
Example 1 — monetary claim: subject-matter value PLN 50,000. Since 50,000 > 20,000, the 5% rate applies. Fee = 50,000 x 5% = PLN 2,500. Example 2 — appeal against the same judgment: base fee (from the claim) = PLN 2,500. Appeal fee = 50% x 2,500 = PLN 1,250. Example 3 — interlocutory motion (zazalenie): regardless of the claim value, the flat fee = PLN 100. Example 4 — maintenance claim (alimenty) for PLN 3,000/month: flat fee = PLN 200 (claim amount is irrelevant).
