Polish labour law (Kodeks pracy) requires employers to pay an overtime supplement on top of the regular hourly rate: 50% for regular weekday overtime and 100% for night, Sunday and public holiday work. This calculator derives the hourly rate from the base monthly salary and computes total overtime pay including the statutory supplement.
Step 1: Hourly rate = base monthly salary / monthly working hours (default 168 h). Step 2: At 50% supplement — overtime pay = hourly rate × 1.5 × hours (supplement = rate × 0.5 × hours). Step 3: At 100% supplement (dobowe_100 or swiateczne_100) — overtime pay = hourly rate × 2 × hours. Monthly working hours vary. Enter the actual figure for the month instead of the default 168 h.
Base salary 5,000 PLN, working time 168 h: hourly rate = 29.76 PLN/h. 10 overtime hours at 50%: pay = 29.76 × 1.5 × 10 = ~446 PLN (supplement = ~149 PLN). At 100% (night/holiday): 29.76 × 2 × 10 = ~595 PLN.
The 50% supplement is paid for overtime worked on weekdays beyond the daily norm (Art. 151¹ § 1(1) of the Labour Code).
The 100% supplement applies to overtime at night, on Sundays and public holidays not being working days, and on a day off resulting from the 5-day working week (Art. 151¹ § 1(2) LC).
Hourly rate = base salary / monthly working hours. Monthly hours depend on the working-time schedule (typically 152–176 h).
Yes — on the employee's request, time off at a 1:1 ratio replaces the supplement. If initiated by the employer, the ratio is 1.5:1.
The Labour Code sets a default limit of 150 overtime hours per year. Collective agreements may raise this to a maximum of 416 h.
Yes — overtime pay (including supplement) is subject to social security contributions and personal income tax on standard terms.
Employees managing the workplace and heads of separate organisational units generally have no right to overtime supplements (Art. 151⁴ LC), except for overtime on Sundays or public holidays.
Overtime exceeding the average 40-hour weekly norm (without exceeding the daily norm) entitles the employee only to the base pay without the supplement (Art. 151¹ § 2 LC).
A part-time employee earns a supplement only after exceeding the full working-time norm stipulated in their contract, if such a threshold is defined.
