Young Driver Insurance Calculator 2026 — Indicative Premium

The young driver insurance calculator helps you estimate an indicative liability insurance (OC) premium. Enter the age, driving experience, engine capacity and choose a city size — the calculator returns the estimated premium based on simplified multipliers. The result is indicative only.

How the calculator estimates the OC premium

Estimated premium = base premium × age multiplier × city multiplier Base premium = PLN 1,200 Age multiplier: under 25 → 1.8 25–30 → 1.3 over 30 → 1.0 City multiplier: big → 1.4 medium → 1.1 small → 0.9

Example: 20-year-old driver, big city, 1600 ccm engine

Base premium PLN 1,200 × age multiplier 1.8 (under 25) × city multiplier 1.4 (big) = PLN 3,024 per year. The same driver in a small town (multiplier 0.9) would pay approx. PLN 1,944.

Frequently asked questions

Why do young drivers pay higher liability insurance?

Insurers treat young drivers (especially under 25) as a higher-risk group because collision and claim statistics are higher in this group. Short driving experience and the lack of a no-claims history mean the OC premium can be 1.5–2 times higher than for an experienced driver.

How much does young driver OC cost in 2026?

An indicative OC premium for a driver under 25 in Poland (2026) is usually PLN 2,000–3,500 per year, depending on the city of residence, engine capacity and insurance history. In big cities (Warsaw, Krakow) premiums are higher than in smaller towns. These are indicative values — the actual offer depends on the insurer.

How does the calculator estimate the OC premium?

The calculator takes a base premium of PLN 1,200 and multiplies it by the age multiplier (under 25: 1.8; 25–30: 1.3; over 30: 1.0) and the city size multiplier (big 1.4; medium 1.1; small 0.9). The result is indicative and does not replace the insurer actual calculation.

Ways to lower OC: being added as a co-owner to an experienced driver policy (e.g. a parent), choosing a car with a smaller engine, claim-free driving to build discounts, comparing offers from many insurers and choosing annual over instalment payment. Some insurers offer telematics discounts (monitored driving).

Yes, engine capacity and power are one of the risk factors. Cars with larger capacity and power are statistically more often at fault in serious claims, so the premium rises. A young driver choosing a 1.0–1.4 car usually pays less than for a powerful 2.0 turbo vehicle.

Yes. Insurers consider the vehicle registration and owner residence. In big cities the frequency of collisions, thefts and parking damage is higher, so premiums are higher than in rural areas or small towns. The difference can reach tens of percent.

Yes, third-party liability insurance for motor vehicle owners is mandatory in Poland by law. The lack of valid OC risks high penalties imposed by the Insurance Guarantee Fund (UFG) — in 2026 the penalty for no OC can reach several thousand zlotys, depending on the gap in cover.

Yes, no-claims discounts are tied to the driver, not the vehicle. After changing cars you keep your earned discounts. Insurers verify insurance history in the UFG database. A young driver is only building their history, so initial premiums are higher and fall with each claim-free year.

Often yes. Adding an experienced driver (e.g. a parent with long-standing discounts) as a co-owner can lower the premium because the insurer accounts for a more favourable risk profile. The effect depends on the specific insurer policy — compare offers with and without this configuration.

No. The calculator gives an indicative value only, based on a simplified multiplier model. The actual OC premium depends on an individual insurer offer accounting for dozens of parameters (car model, claim history, discounts, telematics). To know the real price, run a quote with an insurer or a comparison site.
