The swimming pool cost calculator helps you estimate the cost of building a garden pool and its annual upkeep. Enter the pool volume, choose a heating system and enclosure option — the calculator returns the installation cost and annual chemical and energy costs. Useful for planning a backyard pool investment.
Installation cost: Structure = volume (m³) × PLN 2,000 Enclosure = volume × PLN 600 (if selected) Heating = heat pump 15,000 / solar 12,000 / gas 8,000 / none 0 PLN Annual costs: Chemicals = volume × PLN 40 Energy = depends on heating (300–2,500 PLN) Service = PLN 1,500
50 m³ pool: structure 50 × 2,000 = PLN 100,000, heat pump PLN 15,000, no enclosure. Installation cost = PLN 115,000. Annual costs: chemicals 50 × 40 = PLN 2,000, energy PLN 1,500, service PLN 1,500 = PLN 5,000/year.
The cost of a garden pool in Poland (2026) depends on volume and finish. A concrete pool of 50 m³ costs roughly PLN 100,000–150,000 for the structure alone. Adding heating (heat pump approx. PLN 15,000) and an enclosure (approx. PLN 30,000 for 50 m³) brings the total to PLN 130,000–180,000.
Heat pump: installation approx. PLN 15,000, annual energy approx. PLN 1,500 — the most efficient option for the spring-to-autumn season. Solar collectors: cheaper to run (approx. PLN 300/year) but sun-dependent. Gas: cheaper install (PLN 8,000) but higher annual cost (approx. PLN 2,500). No heating: zero install cost, approx. PLN 500/year for filtration pumps.
A pool enclosure (indicative cost PLN 600/m³ of volume) offers several benefits: it extends the swimming season by 2–3 months, reduces water evaporation (saving water and chemicals by approx. 30%), lowers heating costs and reduces leaf contamination. For a 50 m³ pool an enclosure costs approx. PLN 30,000 and can pay off in 5–8 years.
Annual operating costs for a 50 m³ pool are roughly: pool chemicals approx. PLN 2,000 (PLN 40/m³), energy (depending on heating) approx. PLN 300–2,500, service (cleaning, pump inspection) approx. PLN 1,500. Total approx. PLN 4,000–6,000 per year. Costs are lower for covered pools, as there are fewer leaves and pollen.
For a 4-person family a typical garden pool volume is 30–60 m³ (e.g. 8×4×1.5 m = 48 m³). A smaller pool is cheaper to build and run but may be insufficient with frequent guests. Pools over 100 m³ are intended for more intensive use or recreational purposes.
A garden pool can increase property value, but the effect is ambiguous. In Poland buyers often see a pool as an extra upkeep cost rather than an asset. In the premium segment (homes over PLN 2m) a pool may add 5–10% of value. In the standard segment the return on investment is usually incomplete.
A garden pool of up to 50 m³ and 2 m depth usually does not require a building permit — a notification to the local authority is enough (21-day period). Larger pools or structures by the pool (gazebos, permanent enclosures) may require a full permit. Always check the local zoning plan (MPZP).
Key parameters: pH 7.2–7.6, free chlorine 0.5–1.5 mg/l, alkalinity 80–150 mg/l. Routine tasks: add chlorine every 2–3 days, shock-chlorinate every 2 weeks, test pH 2–3 times a week. Annual chemical cost is approx. PLN 40/m³ of volume. A good filtration system and heat pump reduce chemical use.
Solar collectors pay off for seasonal pools (May–September) in well-insolated locations (southern Poland). Installation cost approx. PLN 12,000, annual energy only approx. PLN 300 (circulation pumps). Payback vs. a gas heater: 4–6 years. Downside: inefficient in cloudy weather and cold months.
The calculator gives indicative installation and operating costs based on average market prices in Poland 2026. It does not include: labour costs for special ground conditions, water and electricity connections, fencing, a deck around the pool, or earthworks on rocky terrain. A final quote should be based on an individual contractor offer.
Results are indicative and based on average market prices in Poland 2026. A final quote requires an individual contractor offer accounting for ground conditions and local prices.
