How we calculate hourly wages

Mode "rate → monthly": gross pay = hourly rate × monthly hours. Mode "monthly → rate": hourly rate = gross pay ÷ monthly hours. Minimum hourly rate 2025: PLN 30.50/h (applies to civil contracts and service contracts).

Example hourly wage calculation

Hourly rate: PLN 35/h, 168 hours per month (4 weeks × 42 h). Monthly: 35 × 168 = PLN 5,880 gross. Annually: PLN 5,880 × 12 = PLN 70,560. Minimum rate 2025: PLN 30.50/h — PLN 35/h is above the minimum.

What is the minimum hourly rate in Poland in 2025?

From January 2025, the minimum hourly rate is PLN 30.50/h. It applies to civil contracts (umowa zlecenia) and sole traders providing services to consumers.

Does the minimum hourly rate apply to employees?

Employees are covered by the minimum monthly wage (PLN 4,666/month in 2025), not the minimum hourly rate directly. The hourly rate applies specifically to civil contracts.

How many working hours are in a typical month?

A full-time month typically contains 160–176 hours, depending on the number of working days. For calculations, 168 hours (4 weeks × 42 h) or 160 h is commonly used.

Divide the annual gross by 12 to get monthly, then divide by monthly hours. Example: PLN 60,000/year ÷ 12 ÷ 168 h ≈ PLN 29.76/h.

Yes. Under Polish labour law, overtime is paid at 150% of the standard rate on weekdays and 200% on Sundays, public holidays, and night shifts.
